Stephen Colbert says Russian agents ‘followed me everywhere’ on trip

Stephen Colbert is back in the USA.

The “Late Show” host has returned to the States after several days in Russia, where he shot a week’s worth of material.

“You know who did know I was in Russia? Russian intelligence,” Colbert joked on Monday night’s episode. “Hardcore fans, evidently, followed me everywhere. Also got some attention from American intelligence. Couple guys seemed to pop up wherever we went.

“But it’s important to keep an eye on a comedian who’s in Russia doing jokes. I could be over there giving state secrets to the Russians. Oh wait, somebody’s already got that covered.”

Colbert, who said he got home barely 24 hours before recording, also took on the latest Washington Post piece on how former President Barack Obama knew about the Russians’ plans to interfere in the election.

“The only person who did more damage to Hillary Clinton’s campaign was Hillary Clinton,” he said.
